I practice a wide range of art forms including underwater photography, wooden pen turning, and different kinds of print-making.
I have been taking underwater photos ever since I got certified to SCUBA dive at the age of twelve. The unique lighting and sense of verticality caused me to fall in love with California’s kelp forests. Capturing my interactions with the ocean’s alien-like creatures is one of my favorite pastimes.
I was taught to turn on a lathe by my woodworking brother, and have perfected the craft by exploring unique glue-ups, odd shapes, and wood combinations.
I have been learning how to make linocut prints and also recently took a silk screening class at the Berkeley Art Studio. The intentionality and repeatability of print-making intrigues me because you are forced to highlight the most distinctive features of a subject.
